Why You Should Identify Your Ideal Client ASAP.

If you’re an entrepreneur just starting out, my hat goes off to you! Not because entrepreneurship is a hardship, but because one of the biggest hurdles you will inevitably face is deciding who you serve and exactly what services you offer.

You may think you can do everything and serve everyone. The truth is that that’s just not going to work for more businesses. The good news is that I am going to save you some heartache by sharing with you why that is a big mistake. So, let’s walk through why identifying who it is that you’re talking to is so important!

My first year in entrepreneurship, I was all over the place. I was offering virtual assistant services to anyone and everyone! After feeling burned out and exhausted, I honed in on who it is that I serve and since then this entrepreneurship thing has gotten a hella of a lot easier.

1. Get over your fear!

The first thing I did was decide who my ideal client was. When you first start out this is really hard. You fear that you’re going to lose business if you are targeting one specific group. You fear that if you simplify your services you’re going to lose money. Instead, start by flipping the script. Think about how your talents and abilities can best serve others. If you’re a human resources consultant, are you going to offer recruitment services for small businesses or are you going to provide leadership seminars for corporations? There is a BIG difference not only in the offer, but the demographic as well.

2. Avoid burnout.

If you don’t figure out who your ideal client is, you’re going to be left spinning your wheels without ever reaching any level of success worth talking about. Offering multiple services to multiple different types of clients is like going to your multiple family and friends’ homes on Thanksgiving. Even though you’re thankful to have so many family members and friends, you never really get to enjoy their company because you’re in a hurry to get to the next place. By the time you get home you’re exhausted and stuffed because you had to take in a little bit of everything, and the next day you’re still tired. Even if you only do ONE THING in your business, it’s much better for you in the long run to do one thing WELL than it is to do many things haphazardly. In business, serving multiple types of clients, all needing different services, results in burnout. And no one wants to be a burnout.

3. Perfect your craft.

When you hone in on one particular skill with one particular type of client, you can spend more time perfecting your craft. You also will be repeating the same steps as a part of the services you offer, making you better and better each time. And the better you get, the more money you can charge! The end result is less stress, better services, and more money. Who doesn’t want that?!

The landscape that we marketers work in is changing all the time, and fortunately there are more ways to reach your customers now than ever before. For a business owner who is just starting out, or if you have an established business that you’re looking to grow, you may be considering ways to increase sales and further establish yourself as an industry expert. 1. Live Facebook and Instagram videos

Live Facebook and Instagram videos not only help you beat the facebook algorithm without having to buy ads, but it gives you a chance to showcase behind the scenes action. Your potential and current customers and clients get to see you in action and learn more about your business. You can a live video with your phone or your computer. You do not need to buy special equipment of any kind. The best live videos are educational and show your customers how to do something. If you own a professional business, you can give out free advice. If you own a clothing store you can show your customer how to pick out the right outfit. Make it educational and appealing to your ideal client.

2. Start a blog.

Creating a blog on your website helps you build authority with your customers. It also allows you to use SEO strategies on your website to help your website rank better in search engines. Approach each of your blogs with educational content much like you would in a live video. You want to give your potential customers and clients something of value. It should be educational and entertaining.

Facebook pixel and why you need it?

What in the world is a Facebook pixel and why should you be using it?

You’re scrolling through Facebook on a Saturday afternoon, and you see an ad for an online retailer. You had just been on that website yesterday, checking out a new pair of work shoes you needed. You weren’t ready to make the purchase just yet, so those shoes are sitting in the shopping cart.

That ad you’re seeing, all due to the Facebook pixel. The Facebook pixel is a code that the online retailer pulled from their Facebook business page and added to their website. It allows them to gain insights on who is visiting their website, so they can optimize their Facebook ads and reach those who are more likely to buy from them.

Guess what.

You can use this same marketing method for your business.

Often times it takes a customer seeing or hearing about your business several times, before they will commit to making a purchase. Using the Facebook pixel to re-target people who’ve visited your website, allows you to remind that person that they left something in their shopping cart or that you’re still available for that consultation.

What it does.

This process helps you convert more paying customers and improves the ROI of your ad spend. Additionally, Facebook has amazing insights into your audience allowing you to target lookalike audiences based on demographics, likes, and even dislikes. It’s a powerful source of information that ensures your Facebook ads are getting seen by the people who are more likely to buy from you.

But, what if you’re not using Facebook ads. Well, you can install the pixel now so that in the future you have the data to create your first Facebook ad. How to hire a virtual assistant.

how to hire a virtual assistant

To much to do and not enough time to do it?  Need help but don’t know where to start, then keep reading to see how to hire a virtual assistant.

If you’re overwhelmed by everything you need to get done and there never seems to be enough time in the day, I have four tips that that will to help you to hire a virtual assistant so you  can start checking things off that ever growing to-do list.

Determine what you need.

The best way to do this is to place a dollar amount on every task that you do.  How much is it costing you to accomplish it. Is your time better spent creating graphics for social media, or talking to potential clients. You should be working on the tasks that are generating money, while delegating what is costing you money.

Company VS. Freelancer.

The biggest plus for going through a company instead of a freelancer is time.  A company will have already vetted virtual assistants and understand their unique skill set. You know they will possess the exact skills you need to get the job done.  With freelancers you could be spending hours going through different people, hoping to come across that ONE. You will have to check references, interview them, and ensure they have the  skills that match your needs. The whole point is to save you time right, not cost you more time.

Know your budget.

How much can you afford to pay monthly? Be realistic, not only on what you can afford, but you also need to keep in mind the skills that are going to be required for the tasks you’re needing help with.  Don’t expect a lambo for the cost of a pinto.

Be upfront about your current systems.

Do you already have systems in place for your tasks?  If you do, great. Once your virtual assistant is trained in those systems, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running.  If systems aren’t in place, don’t worry. Your virtual assistant can help you make order out of chaos. Just be sure you have clear communication with them. This is the key to a successful relationship.

Homepage

The homepage is the very first thing people see when getting on your site.  This is where people are going to decide to go further or just press that back button on their browser.  This is where you’re going to need to grab your customer’s attention and fast. The best way to do that is to talk to directly to them.  And when I say them, I mean YOU’RE customer. Don’t sound like a monotone robot, but a person. Wait what, a person? Yes, have a conversation with them.  Talk to them how they want to be talked to. It’s important to talk to the customer you want, not Joe blow on the corner and everyone in between, but your ideal customer.  Tell them what you want them to do and get them where you want them to go.

Catch their eye.

In order to grab them, you’re going to need something to catch their attention with a title or a tagline.  One phrase that sums up what you do. Be creative, don’t be afraid to throw some humor in their…if that is what your ideal customer digs.  Don’t leave them wondering what it is that your going to do for them.

What do you want your customer to do?

Alright, you have them on your hook just dangling, now what is it that you want them to do?  Do you want them to signup for a newsletter…or maybe you have an awesome FREE “thing” to offer?  Whatever it is put it on your homepage where the customer can see it. Tell them what you want them to do, don’t hope they will just scroll to it and then click it.  Did I mention how important it is to talk to your customer how they want to be talked to…like they are having a conversation with themselves in their head? What you put inside of your button is just as important as what you have on the rest of the page…don’t slack off here.

The why.

People want to know they are getting exactly what they expect…the best way to do this, is with customer testimonials.  This lets your customer know that whatever your selling or doing has worked for someone just like them. Let them know what to expect and the results that your going to provide.

Ask them again.

So they passed the box the first time and read the testimonial, ask them again.  For whatever reason, they needed a little more push, so don’t be afraid to make the offer again.  This time, include more specifics or details on your offer down below your home page. You can also setup for a box to pop up on the website after they have been on the page for 30-45 seconds.  Be creative and always keep your customer in mind.
